In this post I look at How To Buy Bitcoin and Other Digital Currencies with a Coinbase account.  Bitcoin, Ethereum, LiteCoin, and other digital currencies underpinned by block chain technology are all the rage right now.

I must admit that right now, I’m on the fence about Bitcoin, Ethereum and the other digital currencies derived from block chain technology.  But that doesn’t mean that I’m not willing to invest some “fun” money in the sector.

In fact, lots of people are making money on these digital currencies and some experts think that these digital currencies are the future.

On the other hand, for others, it looks like a massive bubble in this space.  In recent weeks, Central banks have been warning that these digital currencies are in bubble territory and have zero real value.

This post isn’t an argument for or against digital currencies.  I think both sides have some valid points.  But I know that a lot of people, including my readers, want to know how to get in on the action.

I recently took the plunge and opened an account to buy some of these digital currencies.  So here it is, my step by step guide on how to create a Coinbase account to buy and sell digital currencies like Bitcoin.

How To Start A Coinbase Account

The first step is to go to the Coinbase website:

Type in your email address and click on Get Started, which brings you to the next screen:

Click Verify Email Address.  Go check your email and follow the link back to Coinbase.

 

How To Open a Coinbase Account

The link brings you to the account setup screen below:

Fill in the information and click create account.

Choose your country and enter your mobile phone number.

Click on Next and enter your payment information.  You can either use a bank account or a credit card.

That’s it, now you’re all set to buy your first digital currency!  It’s all there.  If you want to buy Bitcoin, Ethereum or Litecoin.  It’s up to you.  I bought some Ethereum and will probably pick up some Bitcoin on a pullback.
